How Many Calories Should I Burn To Lose Weight
As more and more people continue to struggle with their weight; then you will continue to hear this question “how many calories should I burn to lose weight?” The truth is that many people tend to give up on losing weight because they get tired of counting calories and not being able to eat what they enjoy without feeling as though they are depriving themselves of the types of food that they enjoy.
You are not alone I hate to count calories and do not feel as though I can not enjoy the types of food that I really want to eat. However if you really want to lose weight and are asking “how many calories should I burn to lose weight” then it is time to begin learning how to reduce your calorie intake.
I have personally found that I can eat what I want to eat as long as I eat it in moderation and am willing to do some exercise on a daily basis. If you want to understand how to count calories; then here are some examples on how to base your count on. Trust me it is not as difficult as most people try to make it seem.
Calculate Your BMR: This is the amount of energy that your body requires so that it can function properly. Our bodies require about 60% of the calories that we consume on a daily basis for bodily functions such as breathing, walking and everything else that we do. Of course everyone’s BMR is going to be different depending on factors such as age, weight, gender, and height.
How To Calculate Your BMR
Women:
655 + (4.3 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) – (4.7 x age in years)
Men:
66 + (6.3 x weight in pounds) + (12.9 x height in inches) – (6.8 x age in years)
The statistics above are for adults only and if you are a teenager or younger then you definitely should consult with your physician to help you plan a great diet plan that will help you consume the right types of foods.
The next steps is to calculate your activity level.
Currently inactive and you do not exercise: BMR x 20%
lightly active and you do a little bit more than just sit on the couch: BMR x 30%
Moderately active If you are exercising at least 3 times a week: BMR x 40%
Very active and you are exercising at least 5 times a week on a prolonged basis: BMR x 50%
Most people who begin counting their calories realize that they can burn fat by consuming around 1500 calories a day. Of course this will differ among the people who are trying to lose weight. If you want more assistance on learning how to count calories then Click Here.
